Diderot (French) - Editing "Confucius" entry in the encyclopedia

       1751 年7 月1 日, “ 百科全书” 的第一卷《百科全书, 或科学、艺术和工艺详解辞典》面世，年轻的法国思想家狄德罗（Denis Diderot,1713-84）凭借其热情、高效，将著名的自然科学家达朗贝、毕丰、经济学家魁奈、杜尔哥、德斯鸠、伏尔泰、卢梭等最著名的启蒙思想家都齐集在“ 百科全书” 的大旗之下, 成了其撰稿人。《百科全书》最终出版了35 卷, 编辑出版历时30 年之久, 它对人类文化的事业的进步作出了难以估量的巨大贡献。狄德罗在其书中亦收录有关于“孔子”的词条，指出孔子是一位重视中国早期统治哲学的圣哲。他不谈奇迹和启示，其儒家哲学纯粹是伦理学和政治学，是理性的宗教和实用哲学。德罗对儒家经典也推崇有加，他称赞《论语》中的“道德警句”所体现的道德观要比其他的超验哲学和经验哲学高明得多。他在最后总结到：中国的儒教“只须以‘理性’或‘真理’就可以治国平天下”。

    Diderot (French) - Editing "Confucius" entry in the encyclopedia

On July 1, 1751 the first volume of the Encyclopedia, known as the Encyclopedia, or the Dictionary of Science, Art and Crafts, was published.  It was based on the enthusiasm and efficiency of the young French ideologist Denis Diderot (1713-84). The famous natural scientists D'Alembe and Bifeng, economists Quesnay, Durga, Dess, Voltaire, Rousseau and other famous enlightenment ideologists are all gathered under the banner of "Encyclopedia" and this became his contribution. The Encyclopedia, of which the editing and publishing lasted 30 years, was published finally in 35 volumes. It made an invaluable contribution to the development of human culture. In his book, Diderot included, also, an entry for "Confucius" and pointed out that Confucius was a sage who valued the philosophy of early Chinese rule. In his book, he does not talk about miracles and revelations because his Confucian philosophy is purely about ethics and political science and, thus making it a rational religious and practical philosophy. Also, Diderot praised highly Confucian classics and the morality embodied in the "Ethnic Aphorisms" in the Analects of Confucius which is better than the transcendental and empirical philosophy. He concluded that Chinese Confucianism "can only govern the country by 'rationality' or 'truth'.
